The Repaint Test

Every indicator page claims "non-repainting". Claims are free. This is the bar-replay protocol that settles it, for any script you have installed, including TracerSMC.

01

Open bar replay

On TradingView, pick any pair and timeframe with the indicator on the chart, then hit Replay in the top toolbar and click a starting point a few hundred bars back.

02

Play through a structure break

Step forward candle by candle (→ key) until a signal prints: a BOS or choch label, a zone, a sweep flag. Note the exact bar it appeared on and whether it printed before or on the close.

03

Screenshot it the moment it prints

Label, level, zone, everything as it stands. Alt/Opt + S is TradingView's built-in snapshot. This is your evidence.

04

Keep stepping, fifty bars or more

Let the market move on. A repainting script will now quietly move, delete or "improve" its earlier signals so that history looks clean.

05

Compare against your screenshot

Same bars, same chart. Every label and level should sit exactly where it printed. Anything that moved, vanished or appeared retroactively is a repaint.

Reading the verdict

Passes: everything is where it printed. The signals you would have traded live are the signals you see in hindsight. That script's history can be trusted.

Fails: labels shifted, zones vanished, or signals exist now that were not there live. Its backtests and screenshots are fiction. Uninstall it before it costs you an account.

Why we hand you the weapon: TracerSMC confirms structure on candle close only, with a pip rule plus minimum-candle confirmation, and orderblocks draw the moment they form. If a label ever moves after the close, you have caught us, and we would rather you check than believe. What this test cannot do: make anyone profitable. It only tells you whether a tool is honest.
